    DESCRIPTION

Liberty Fabrics invited experimental Dutch Designer, Karel Martens, to curate a capsule collection of designs for SS24. Beginning in a time before the ease of technologically produced art, Karel’s organic approach to design is demonstrated in his hand printed portfolio - here the Liberty Fabrics Designers have transformed his iconic monoprints into wearable textiles by playing with scale and layout. Mixing his hand drawn motifs with digital collages, these fabrics celebrate exciting interpretations of Karel’s work, the resulting eclectic array of vibrant geometric prints exploring a Dutch Modernist approach to creating textiles in a new light.

Hexagon is a beautifully innovative geometric, showcasing the endless possibilities achieved through processing one elemental form. Bridging the gap between positive and negative space, this balanced and symmetrical design is actually generated by the rotation of a simple rectangle, drawing the eye into an intriguing array of hexagonal optical illusion

Liberty Tana Lawn is unique: a fabric made from specially selected ultra-fine long-staple cotton, woven from 70 and 100 ply yarns, with exclusive and superior qualities that have elevated Tana to its iconic status. Once woven, Tana is subjected to a lengthy series of preparations, followed by a process of mercerization that swells the fibers of the cotton, enhancing handle and luster, and stabilizing the fabric finish. Mercerization also increases dye absorption in the rotary screen printing or the latest digital print technology, allowing this fine fabric to carry color and print magnificently.
