The kit includes:
Hitomezashi is a variation of sashiko embroidery. The patterns consist of simple stitches in straight lines on the fabric. Hitomezashi patterns cover the fabric more densely than simple sashiko patterns.
This technique was used to make the fabric more durable where it would undergo a lot of wear (cuffs, collars, knees, etc.) and for mending.
Kugurizashi is a variation of more advanced sashiko embroidery that involves using Hitomezashi stitching as a base for weaving threads to create beautiful designs.
