Hitomezashi Kit - 3 Sashiko Brooches to Decorate

This Hitomezashi kit combines different colourful Sashiko patterns, to embroider on 100% cotton fabric and cut out to create your personalised brooches.

The kit includes:
- 100% cotton fabric ready to embroider with a water-soluble printed pattern
- Sashiko thread
- A Sashiko needle
- 3 brooches of approximately 4.5cm in diameter
- Diagrams and instructions

Hitomezashi is a variation of sashiko embroidery. The designs consist of simple stitches in straight lines on the fabric.  The patterns cover the fabric more densely than simple sashiko patterns.

This technique was used to make the fabric more durable where it would receive a lot of wear (cuffs, collars, knees, etc.) and for mending.

Kugurizashi is a more advanced variation of sashiko embroidery that uses the Hitomezashi stitch as a base to weave threads to create beautiful designs.
