    DESCRIPTION

Laine is an international knit and lifestyle magazine. Their new beautiful summer issue, Laine 25, Stillness, takes you to an old summer cabin by the lakeside — nestled in the woods, surrounded by birch and pine trees, fresh waters and blue skies. The photos capture the quiet beauty and serenity of Finnish summer.

This issue includes 12 light and relaxed summer garments and accessories. The knits are worked in a variety of yarns suited for summer, and they feature many interesting techniques and textures.

Maria Gomes’ Ice Cream cardigan is worked in a delicate blend of baby alpaca, silk and Merino, creating a lightweight fabric. Audrey Borrego’s Bleuet shawl is made with pure hemp yarn; the drape and softness it grows into make it a great choice for summer. Sus Gepard’s Sea tee is knitted with a textured yarn spun in a blend of linen and cotton, creating an airy feel.

Looking for a layering piece that you can throw over any summer outfit? We have a few lovely cardigans for you, such as Kaori Katsurada’s cute, frilled Diǎnxīn, or Marie-Ève Wedge’s versatile and relaxed ‘Orma’! Or maybe try Linda Lencovic’s ‘Luminous sweater: an oversized jumper that combines two yarns in contrasting shades? This issue also features three beautiful shawls that will keep you warm in the cooler summer nights!

For the perfect summer top, Laine recommends Antonio Jesús Castillo Urquízar’s ‘Francisca’, a boxy top featuring a simple cable and lace pattern, or Marina Storm’s ‘Kallos’, an elegant top worked in a combination of stockinette stitch and intricate lace. Both stunning and unique in their own way!

Issue 25, Summer 2025, includes 148 pages with:

    • 12 knitting patterns: 2 sweaters, 3 cardigans, 3 T-shirts/tops, 3 shawls, 1 pair of socks.
    • An interview with the British knitter and yarn entrepreneur Milli Abrams, who is set to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in a bid to raise money for charity.
    • An article about Stéphanie Schiffgens, a shepherdess from Oregon who raises Gotland sheep in the US, producing long and lustrous wool adored by knitters around the world.
    • Jeanette Sloan’s column Fibre Talk, where she meets Louis Boria (@brooklynboyknits), a New York-based knitwear designer, teacher, activist and TEDx speaker.
    • The Five Ways article providing experts’ tips on how to take better photos of your knits.
    • Where I Knit: A regular piece that pictures people knitting in their favourite spot. In this issue, we meet the Finnish Tiina Lehtonen, who likes to knit in her allotment garden cabin.
    • Seasonal recipes to inspire your summer cooking.
