Aida fabrics have an easy-to-count blocked grid appearance. They are made in different ‘counts’, i.e. blocks per inch: 6-, 8-, 11-, 14-, 16-, and 18-count are available. 

The count refers to the number of stitches you can make in an inch. The metric equivalent is pts/cm - stitches per centimeter. Therefore, the higher the count the smaller stitches you will make resulting in a finer finish. 

Aida is for cross stitch. This cotton fabric has a natural mesh that facilitates cross-stitching and enough natural stiffness that the crafter does not need to use an embroidery hoop.

This is 14 count, 5.5pt/cm, and 110 cm wide.
