mind the MAKER's waxed cottons are made with paraffin wax derived from petroleum (a bi-product from crude oil distillation) which has been used for decades to make waxed cotton, also known as oilskin.
When applying paraffin wax to cotton cloth and allowing it to saturate the cloth, it becomes water resistant, while still preserving some ability to breathe and the natural look of cotton.

Waxed cotton is tear resistant, very durable and it ages beautifully with aesthetically pleasing creases and color permutations. It is perfect for outdoor clothing and gear, such as jackets, hats and bags. If you take care of your waxed cotton garments properly they will last for years and years.

If they lose the ability to resist water over time, it is possible to apply a layer of wax by following the instructions of a paraffin wax product suitable for re-proofing.

Please note that some oil transfer can occur from the fabric to other fabrics and materials. This will be less as it dries out over time when aired and used, but we recommend to use a proper lining such as a tightly woven poplin, quilting fabric or broadcloth.

Waxed cotton does not require a lot of special care as long as you keep in mind to:
Not wash it with warm water (it will release the wax)
Never to use soap on it
Keep it far away from the washing machine and only do gentle spot cleaning with a soft brush and cold water
    Do not iron
Embrace the patina and allow it to age

When you receive the waxed cotton from a shop, it will probably have creases, lines and rectangular marks from folding, but these will even out as you start working with it.
We recommend to unfold it and hang/lay it as flat as possible until you cut into it to avoid the marks becoming more permanent.
