During this special workshop with Natasha from Zoownatas, you will explore her take on Oya crochet. Natasha has been in love with this Turkish lace crochet technique for over a decade now and created her own patterns over the years. Her patterns are her interpretation of the Turkish Oya crochet.
In Dutch, she calls it ‘priegelhaken’ , which translates to fiddly crochet. Oya crochet is worked with very thin threads, small beads, and a very fine crochet hook. This type of crochet is used to make jewellery as well as to add decorative edging to other projects like shawls.
HISTORY OF OYA CROCHET
During the workshop, Natasha will teach you the basics of Oya crochet. The lace crochet technique typically incorporates beads into the design. You will learn about the correct materials & tools, how to read the lace patterns and practice a variety of lace stitches.
You will start making a thin bracelet to get used to the different techniques and then you will move on crocheting a more complex bracelet with a pattern.
