.Visible repair is more than just a practical solution for a hole in a garment - it's a creative expression and an act of sustainability.
In this workshop, you will learn the techniques you need to give both knitwear and woven garments a new lease of life. For woven fabric you will learn a Patchwork and Embroidery technique.
Patching is a fun and easy way to repair and personalise damage to clothing. A patch is a piece of fabric that is sewn with hand stitches on or under a hole. You can strengthen and/or decorate it with embroidery stitches. Not only is the repaired garment saved from the trash, the patches you use to repair can also come from recycled clothing!
If you can bring a garment that needs to be fixed to the workshop, this can be a cotton shirt, jeans, denim jacket or a trousers/skirt/jacket or a piece of knitwear
During this workshop, you will learn which tools and materials you need. You will learn the technique of sewing a patch on or under to repair a hole. You will also learn some basic embroidery stitches to strengthen or decorate the fabric.
