Visible repair is more than just a practical solution for a hole in a garment it's a creative expression and an act of sustainability. In this workshop, you will learn the techniques you need to give both knitwear and woven garments a new lease of life.
During weaving and darning, a network of vertical threads is stretched and attached to the material around the hole with yarn. Horizontal threads are then made to create a weave. Sometimes a reinforcing thread is placed around the hole.
For this workshop, we ask you to bring a piece of garment that needs to be fixed. This can be a sweater, a pair of jeans or socks with a hole.
During this workshop, you will learn which tools and materials you need. You first learn the basic weaving technique. You can then work with a sweater, socks, or jeans to transform a hole, wear, or stain into a woven eye-catcher.
