Mountain Sheep Carded Wool Fleece 100g - Dark Grey

This mountain sheep carded wool fleece is washed, carded, undyed raw wool.

Carded fleece is an airy "blanket" of wool as it comes from the carding mill. Suitable for needle felting, wet felting and spinning. The hairs of the wool are combed in a single direction less than with sliver wool. With dry needle felting, you can easily model a basic core shape with carded fleece. You can then layer it with the outer colours. It’s a quick and easy way to start any 3D shape.

Carded fleece is used by pulling out tufts of wool for laying felt and spinning. It’s also widely used for fur felting. You then felt the spread out blanket to the undercoat (shaving side) and this forms a firm new “skin” for the fur.

The thickness is of course difficult to determine due to the airiness of the material. If you do not press it together, the fleece is 2 to 3 cm thick.
