    Class time: 10.30am – 5.00pm with a 30min lunch break.


    Workshop description:
    This one-day workshop is perfect for beginners who wanting to learn how to make a quilt, and learn the basics of quilting -  from the right tools and material to use  to techniques, tips and tricks. During the 6 hour workshop you will create a colourful mini quilt measuring 50cm x 50cm, perfect for a gift, to hang on a wall or to place on a table or armchair.


    What you will learn:
    -How to create a quilt top using a sewing machine and the popular Half-Square Triangle
     block.
    -The sandwich stage in which the quilt top, wadding and backing are joined together.
    -You will also learn a simple design quilt design
    -And how to attach the bias tape to bind the edges of the quilt in order to finish it.
    -You will leave the course with instructions on how to recreate this Mini Quilt again and a summary of everything you have learned in the workshop including basic quilting
    terms, best tools for beginners and block piecing and quilting techniques.


    What skills do you need?
    This is a workshop for beginners who are comfortable using a sewing machine.

    Included in the workshop

    -Wadding / batting
    -Lunch
    -The use of a sewing machine.
    -The use of a 1/4’’ and walking presser feet.
    -The use of rotary cutters, quilting ruler and cutting mat.
    -The use of usual sewing tools: fabric scissors, unpicker, needles, pins, fabric marker…

     

    Not Included:

    Fabrics for the quilt top as well as the fabric for the backing, bias binding and thread. You can purchase these in the shop before the workshop ( with 10% discount) or bring your own.

    When you sign up for the workshop you will recieve an email detailing the fabric you need for the workshop. The triangles will need to be cut out at home. If you use to buy fabric from Cross & Woods with your 10% discount please make sure that you do this in plenty of time before the workshop.

    ABOUT THE TEACHER:
    Ana is a sewing and quilting teacher based in the Netherlands. She studied pattern cutting and professional sewing skills in the London College of Fashion where she started her own independent sewing pattern company, CocoWawa Crafts. Ana designs dressmaking and quilting patterns for the modern maker and loves many other crafts like knitting, embroidery or cross-stitch.
